What is
Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is used extensively for a variety of medical purposes ranging from
the prevention and treatment of disease, to relieving pain and anesthetizing
patients for surgery. As in many oriental medicine practices, the emphasis of
acupuncture is on prevention. In traditional Chinese medicine, the highest form
of acupuncture was given to enable you to live a long, healthy life.
Why Kathy West?
My practice is focused on your wellness, emphasizing a holistic approach to
maintaining your health. This is true
even when we are addressing specific health or pain issues you may have. In my practice, even the treatment of
problems involves working with you to improve your overall health. The treatment of injuries and illness is
designed to use the strengths of your body to improve your health, and the
acupuncture works with your systems, not overriding them like you might do with
drugs.
I have 17 years
of experience treating our neighbors in Southeast Portland. I have a complement of Chinese herbs and
medicinals to help improve your health.
Why Get Acupuncture?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is an empirically based system of medicine
designed to enhance the body's natural healing abilities. Acupuncture uses
small, thin, disposable needles to regulate one's energy, relieve pain, and
stimulate the body's internal organs to restore balance and promote health and
wellbeing.
Acupuncture became more accepted in the United States for success in the field
of pain management. Gradually patients found that not only did their pain
vanish, but other chronic problems improved as well.
